  Back from the Memorial

  well like i say, just got back from the memorial, have been going most years, but this year i went by chance (knew it was roughly at 7pm at the nearest kh) to my old congregation that i grew up in.

  i didn't find the "evil" people spoke of here on this forum, or those too stupid to see.

  all i did see was people i hadn't seen in years, and let me tell you, what lovely people they were.

  Very interesting, Tell me Scoob, did you feel like a hypocrite for going to the Memorial when you read and post on this site? 'Cause I bet if you told those same 'friends' about our forum and your part on it you'd feel the 'love' turn into an artic blast. Just before you start accusing me of being a hater, there are many people I love who are still JWs, including family. I haven't lost them like many here on this forum so when you reply on the forum, please have a little compassion because you don't want to go through the pain and neither do I. Also, for the first time in my life, I didn't attend the memorial, it was a strange feeling a mix of good and bad. I don't believe this is the truth. But whether you think so or not, you are right, there are good JW's - just as there are good people in all religions but that doesn't make it right! Most on this forum are good people too who have had their hearts broken by the loving JWs, where is your empathy? - Victorian Sky

  Are you planning anything special for Memorial?

  since i never partook of the bread and wine all the years i was a jw, thought it would be fun to attend this year's memorial and sample the matzo and hopefully some kosher wine.

  thought it might impress jws if i walked into the kh wearing a yarmulke and a tallith (prayer shawl).

  anybody else plan to have some fun at the memorial?.

  Nina & Charmed, I know what you mean. This is the first time in my life I'm not going to the Memorial. Part of me wants to give in to my mom's 'the family is falling apart speech' and the other part of me gets naseaous thinking about stepping foot in a KH. Guess what I'm saying is, still not sure what I'm going to do. I know! I'll watch American Idol!! - Victorian Sky

  Thanks Blondie! Very interesting. Sick. Twisted. Warped. Once again, the GB taking no responsiblility for any harm done - they might as well say, 'Child Abuse, Blood transfusion deaths, Disfellowshipping & murder/suicides, yeah it's happening but we have the truth! Obey us in everything and look the other way. Don't you dare ask a single quesiton or else!' They are disgusting. I'm sorry I was associated with the borg and it makes me sick to know what's been going on, covered up and glossed over. Their PR is amazing though, they can make a pile of poop smell like roses.   now that it's dispensed with its annual ``don't you dare partake" in advance of their spring travesty of a communion, the faithful and discreet slave shifts its focus to another seasonal perennial: the km's recurrent exhortation to ``mind your manners at this summer's district conventions.

  by ``connecting the dots" between the leadership's admonition to mind one's manners at the hotel, to tip approriately, to avoid ``double-dipping'' by eating and then loading up on unapproved takeaways for lunch at hotels that prvide complimentary breakfast, to refrain from losing all inhibitions in after-hour socializing and to forego the donning of outlandish skin-tight (or conversely loose fitting ``hip-hop" outfits) forte duration of the assembly, a picture quite different from the idealized notion of jws being a worldwide fraternity of solidly mature, temperate ministers who lives find fulfilment only in the service of god and their fellow man.. what sort of adults need to be lectured in such terms, let alone a group that boasts of its aloofness from satan's world?

  what does it suggest about leadership's awareness of how far removed from reality the rank and file is from their literature's stylized imagery?

  Wow, isn't it amazing that manners get more emphasis than talks on how to treat people with kindness, compassion & love? I used to zone out during brain numbing parts like these. JWs are treated like children who are incapable of thinking for themselves and if people need reminders not to steal that's not saying much about the group as a whole. - Victorian Sky

  i got an e-mail today from an old high school friend who, after we met for coffee, said "wow, you're normal again!

  i mean, you were boring, stuffy, and generally not much fun when you became a jw.

  now you're back to the old so-and-so that i remember, i love it!

  Some aspects of my personality are the same. But in some ways I hardly recognize myself. I was raised a JW and contrary to what they say from the podium, just because a person leaves doensn't mean they'll go buck wild. But I am so thankful that I feel closer to God, I'm more caring, loving, much more tolerant of different beliefs. I was a judgemental, worry all the time, uptight, guilt 24/7 kind of person. Nothing I did was good enough so I've learned to be a lot kinder to myself and to others. I had to learn how to have fun & now I really enjoy life. My relatives say that I'm much happier and more involved with family gatherings. The JW family & 'friends' can't figure that out, 'cause if you leave the 'truth' you're supposed to miserable right? I don't think so! But more than anything, I'm much more compassionate than I ever was as an active JW. Gee, I wonder why?:) - Victorian Sky

  one thing that always cracks me up is when an article or book (or post) uses too many exclamation points.

  BAD ASSOCIATION - If I hear that scripture one more time I'll gag. Who determines who is bad anyway? The borg judges people down to their underwear. WORLDY PEOPLE - I was never comfortable with how non JW's where viewed, they didn't matter unless they became JW's, some of my relatives who I dearly love where so called worldy and the JW's so eager for their destruction. Never liked the looking down on people. LOOSE CONDUCT - not that I've ever been accused of it but what the hell is that? Either you have sex or you don't. THE PIONEER RANKS - the what?! SERVING JEHOVAH FULLTIME - excuse me? Aren't all Christians trying to do that regardless of hrs spent in the field? It was like non pioneers didn't count, never liked that either, even when I was a pioneer. YOUR CAREER AS A WITNESS - say what? Last time I checked not one of us got paid, this was said to discourage people from going to college, thank God I didn't listen to that nonsense! - Victorian Sky

  They Finally Did It

  my parents have finally disowned me.. my dad called yesturday and told me to get the "dogs of my mothers back" about my upcoming wedding.. i told him that i havent put anyone on mum's back and if they are saying it, its because they want to and don't agree with what he and mum are doing.

  i said that mum can speak for herself and he said that she and will and the next time you speak to your mother she will tell you that we dont want to ever speak to or see you again...".

  at this point in the conversation i hung up the phone in his ear.

  Kim, I empathize with the pain you must be going through. Know that you have true friends here, who care about you unconditionally. You can write to anyone of us if you ever get down and when you miss your family, I hope they come to their senses. If you ever need to talk, my email is [email protected].   our son ben is celebrating his 15th birthday on friday 11, but actually it is his 1st birthday aswell.. so please help us celebrate with him be sending him some cool messages.

  he is really excited, and he is getting some cool pressies.

  he has been really funny, but it is lovely to see.. we would really appreciate it.. thanks everyone.
